LEOPOLD

LEOPOLD

A classic Georgian apartment renovation in the heart of Edinburgh, retaining its architectural heritage while introducing a contemporary, tactile warmth. The design emphasizes spatial clarity and material richness, celebrating the proportions and light of the original structure. Key heritage features—3.6m-high ceilings, full-height sash windows, and original timber shutters—were preserved and enhanced. The abundance of natural light is accentuated by a neutral, warm palette anchored by wide-plank oak flooring and custom leather furnishings. Window niches were deepened and integrated with bespoke seating, creating quiet thresholds between interior and exterior.

The layout is open yet intimate, with curated transitions between rooms. The bathroom, a luminous counterpoint to the apartment’s earthy tones, is entirely clad in hand-laid pink mosaics, offering a moment of contrast and immersion. The apartment is further animated by a curated collection of works by Swiss artist Michel Casarramona, whose playful illustrations in delicate color fields lighten the mood. This project demonstrates a sensitive approach to heritage adaptation, merging historic fabric with modern interventions to craft a home that feels timeless, expressive, and deeply livable.
